  • Community Events

Watch this space for upcoming seminars on brain science including how the brain works, how it develops, maintaining a healthy brain, and what happens in aging and diseases like Alzheimer’s. These seminars will help bring science to the community and provide an opportunity for Q&A with scientists in the field. Check back for updates!

  • Scientific Events

Cutting edge research is often shared amongst scientists at science and education conferences, one of the major types of events for knowledge building. Here are a few meetings Generation Brain attends:

Society for Neuroscience (SfN) — The largest gathering of brain scientists and educators in the world, with over 30000 attendees virtually and in person. Offering a broad spectrum of neuroscience from the basic building blocks of cells up to brain function in people – this meeting has it all.  These meetings take place in the Fall, in cities like Chicago, Washington and San Diego. Through their sponsorship of local neuroscience chapters and Brain Awareness Week, SfN is also deeply involved in public education.

Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) — Similar to SfN, AAIC is the largest gathering of researchers focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related brain disorders like Parkinson’s disease, ALS and frontotemporal dementia. This gathering is held annually in cities around the world and includes a new event for the public called AAIC for all. This open to the public event brings together panelists from around the world to discuss the latest in research and what it means to people with dementia and their families, friends and care partners.

Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) — Is the go-to conference for education for historically excluded studentsin STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) for the past 20 years and has grown to support all those involved in STEM research. ABRCMS happens once a year in different cities across the country.
